The best phlebotomy practice tests for 2026, free and paid

The right practice test depends on your exam, your budget and how you like to study, so this is a fair list rather than a ranking. We make PhlebBot and it is included; every option is listed alphabetically, and every competitor fact links to the competitor's own page.

Competitor details last checked on , on each company's own website. Prices and plans change, so follow the source links and confirm before you buy.

Start with a free practice test

PhlebBot's free sets need no account, explain every question in the set, and score you by exam domain.

Each option in detail

BoostPrep

Good for: Students who want a cheap one-time purchase with full-length exams and a refund-if-you-fail option.

Watch out for: One course covers six different exams, so it is not weighted to a single exam's blueprint; read the refund conditions before relying on them.

Mometrix

Good for: Students who want structured lessons and flashcards alongside full-length practice tests.

Watch out for: It is the most expensive monthly option in this list, and it renews every month.

NHA (official CPT materials)

Good for: NHA CPT candidates who want practice from the organisation that writes the exam.

Watch out for: Prices were not shown on the certification page and the store page did not load when we checked, so confirm the price in the NHA store.

Open Exam Prep

Good for: Students who want a no-signup NHA CPT question set with an AI helper at no cost.

Watch out for: The site earns commission from affiliate links (it says so), so its resource recommendations are not neutral.

PhlebBot(our product)

  • Price: $15/month, or the Exam Pass: $30 for your first 3 months.
  • Billing: Recurring. The Exam Pass continues at $15/month unless you cancel; we email you 7 days before it renews. Cancel in Settings in 2 clicks.
  • Free option: 10 free practice sets (228 questions): general tests, NHA CPT, ASCP PBT and AMT RPT sets, and topic quizzes. No account needed.
  • Question bank: No fixed bank to quote: the paid AI tutor asks new questions in a conversation, weighted to your exam's blueprint. The free sets are fixed, checked questions.
  • How you study: One adaptive tutoring session in four phases (assessment, instruction, mastery, exam readiness), with readiness tracked for every exam domain. Missed concepts come back later in the session and on later days.
  • Exams covered: NHA CPT, ASCP PBT and AMT RPT. Not NCCT NCPT or AMCA.
  • Where it runs: Web app in any phone, tablet or computer browser. No App Store or Google Play app.
  • Guarantee or refund: None. No pass promise, and no refunds for partial periods (see the terms).
  • Ways to pay: Card, Cash App Pay or Link, through Stripe.
  • Explanations show CLSI, OSHA or CDC references when a matching reference is found, and replies without one are flagged.
  • AI tutor included (Google Gemini), up to 60 tutoring turns a day.

Good for: Students who want an AI tutor that teaches through questions, tracks readiness for each domain of the NHA CPT, ASCP PBT or AMT RPT, and shows references they can open.

Watch out for: Plans renew unless you cancel (with a reminder email first), there is no refund for partial periods, no app-store app, and no NCCT NCPT or AMCA coverage.

PhleboPrep

Good for: Students who want a one-time payment with no renewal, a refund window, or NCCT NCPT coverage.

Watch out for: The free tier is capped per week, and the page gives no exact question count.

PhlebotomySkills

Good for: NHA CPT or ASCP PBT students on a tight budget who want to pay once and keep access.

Watch out for: It does not cover the AMT RPT, and the guarantee is reviewed case by case.

Pocket Prep

Good for: Students who want a native phone app, a large fixed question bank to grind through, and a mock exam.

Watch out for: Every plan bills again on its schedule until you cancel, and the guarantee extends access rather than refunding you.

ProProfs NHA phlebotomy quiz

Good for: Students who want one long free quiz to repeat a few times before the exam.

Watch out for: It was written by a community contributor (the page says it was clinically reviewed by a pharmacist), so double-check any answer that disagrees with your course.

Smarter Phlebotomy

Good for: Students who want several full-length timed tests and a score predictor, paid once.

Watch out for: The free questions need an account, and the guarantee only applies if you buy 30+ days before the exam.

Test-Guide

Good for: Students who want short free practice exams written by a nursing educator (the page names the author and her nursing doctorate).

Watch out for: You need an account to start, and its paid upgrade is BoostPrep (listed separately here).

Not on this list: Quizlet sets, Union Test Prep and the ASCP BOC practice exam, because their own pages blocked or returned no content when we checked. NHA (official CPT materials) prices are left out for the same reason.

Phlebotomy practice tests: common questions

What is a good free phlebotomy practice test?

For no-signup practice, Open Exam Prep, the ProProfs NHA quiz, PhlebotomySkills' 10-question quiz and PhlebBot's free sets all work without an account. NHA's free CPT Test Plan is not a practice test, but it lists what the NHA CPT covers. Test-Guide and Smarter Phlebotomy offer free questions after you sign up.

Are paid phlebotomy practice tests worth it?

They are worth it if you need more volume, full-length timed exams, or teaching on the questions you miss. For some students, free resources plus their course materials are enough. If you pay, check whether the plan renews, how long access lasts, and the exact conditions of any guarantee.

Which practice tests are official?

Only the exam owners' materials are official: NHA for the CPT, ASCP BOC for the PBT and AMT for the RPT. Every other product on this page, including PhlebBot, is independent and not endorsed by those organisations.

Why is PhlebBot on this list if you make it?

Because it is one of the options, and leaving it out would be odd on our own site. We list everything alphabetically rather than ranking, say where other products are stronger, and link to the page we read each competitor fact on.

How often is this page updated?

We re-check every competitor fact on the competitor's own site and show the date we last did. If a price or plan has changed since then, the source link will show the current one.
